When a train disruption changes your journey, a bus countdown is only part of what you need. MyTransport.SG is LTA's app and includes official transport alerts and journey planning. I build BusSing, which focuses on checking your commute across Apple devices. There are good reasons to use both.
Written by the developer of BusSing. Sources and the basis for each comparison are named in the article. Features and prices can change. We have not measured arrival accuracy against the other app.
A useful request from Reddit
In January 2023, a Reddit user asked for a bus app with an iOS widget so they could avoid repeatedly opening the app. After someone suggested MyTransport, the asker said it was good but did not have the widgets they wanted at the time.
That is a request BusSing addresses with Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets. It is not evidence that MyTransport lacks widgets today. It also says nothing about the features that make MyTransport useful when your journey changes.

Where I would give MyTransport a place on your phone
MyTransport.SG's current App Store listing documents notifications for MRT and road alerts, a multimodal journey planner, and nearby bus, MRT and traffic information. LTA also directs commuters to it for train operating times, station exits, bus services and arrivals. These details were checked on 27 October 2026.
If official MRT alerts or road information matter to your journey, those are practical reasons to keep MyTransport. Its broader transport information can help with questions a next-bus screen does not answer.
MyTransport is available on Android and iPhone. Its iPhone listing requires iOS 13, compared with iOS 18 for BusSing. It is free to download, and the Singapore App Store listing does not display in-app purchases.

Where BusSing can make the daily check easier
On a journey you know, you may only need to know whether to leave now. A BusSing widget lets you put a saved stop on your Home Screen. For the bus you are actively waiting for, a Live Activity keeps arrival estimates on the Lock Screen and, on supported iPhones, Dynamic Island.
BusSing also has Apple Watch timings, alight reminders and offline MRT route planning. The app has no ads. Standard widgets, bus arrivals, alight reminders and offline MRT planning are available without Express. Unlimited Live Activities and location-aware widgets need Express, and free Live Activities have a limit.
These are the BusSing tools I would suggest trying first. If you already like how MyTransport handles your usual stop, keep that as your starting point when comparing them.
BusSing does have point-to-point directions
BusSing can plan a journey combining walking, buses and MRT. Those directions use OneMap through our backend and need an internet connection. The App Store release history introduced them as Transit Directions beta. MyTransport also documents multimodal planning. Try a route you know in each planner and compare the walks and transfers it suggests.
The separate BusSing offline MRT planner is useful when you need a rail route without a connection. It does not include live disruption information. A route that can be calculated offline cannot tell you whether a line is running normally right now.
The gaps I would be clear about
BusSing is independently developed. It is not an official LTA app. I would use MyTransport for its documented official MRT and road alerts. BusSing offline MRT planning does not replace those live updates.
There is no Android version of BusSing, and it needs a newer iPhone operating system. Its widgets also depend on iOS refresh scheduling. A glance at a widget is convenient, but opening the app may be necessary to check a newer estimate.
Arrival reliability is another limit. An August 2025 Reddit post described buses missing from BusLeh and MyTransport even though they later arrived. That was an individual report, not an accuracy test. LTA documents that arrival data can be unavailable, and BusSing uses LTA estimates too. Switching to BusSing is not a promise that missing timings will disappear.

You may want both
I would keep MyTransport for its official alerts and wider transport information, then try BusSing for an everyday saved stop, widget or Live Activity. If you have Android or an older supported iPhone, MyTransport is the option in this pair that you can use. On a supported iPhone, try BusSing on a normal commute and see whether the quick checks earn it a place on your Home Screen.
