TransitNow is worth a look if you want one bus app for Singapore and trips elsewhere. Its listing names cities including Hong Kong and Melbourne. BusSing is built for Singapore. I make BusSing, and where you travel is the first difference I would consider here.
Written by the developer of BusSing. Sources and the basis for each comparison are named in the article. Features and prices can change. We have not measured arrival accuracy against the other app.
One city or several?
This is TransitNow - Live Bus Tracker by MetaLight HK Limited. Its Singapore App Store listing and developer website advertise coverage across several cities, including Singapore. The Singapore page has route and stop directories. That establishes Singapore as a supported market, but it is not a test of every service.
If you travel between cities, keeping familiar route and stop tools in one app is appealing. Check the routes you need in each destination before relying on it there. BusSing focuses on Singapore buses and MRT, so it does not offer the same multi-city proposition.
This comparison uses the App Store listing and developer sources checked on 27 October 2026. It does not report a hands-on app test.

Reminders and timetables overlap with familiar commuter needs
TransitNow advertises boarding and get-off reminders, route planning, stop details and timetables for supported routes. Its September release history specifically added Singapore bus timetables. Its website also describes live vehicle maps and route choices.
BusSing has alight reminders too. You can choose a destination stop and request a reminder as you approach. Neither a reminder nor a timetable guarantees what happens on the road. Check that the selected stop is in the direction you intend to travel.
TransitNow release notes mention a notification for the first of several awaited buses in select regions. If that is the feature you want, check its availability in Singapore. The regional qualification matters.

BusSing puts your Singapore commute on Apple screens
For a stop you check every day, BusSing has Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets. Start a Live Activity for the bus you are waiting for and its arrivals stay on your Lock Screen. Compatible iPhones also show it in Dynamic Island. Apple Watch timings and Shortcuts give you other ways to check.
BusSing also has offline MRT route planning and separate online directions combining walking, buses and MRT. The offline planner does not include live disruption information. Combined directions and live bus arrivals need an internet connection.
TransitNow describes multiple transport modes on its website without spelling out the Singapore modes in the sources checked. I would compare a route you know in each app instead of assuming that its shorter store description means it cannot plan that journey.

Free to download needs a closer look
TransitNow is listed as free to download. Its privacy policy declares Google AdMob for personalised or non-personalised advertising. That tells us the developer uses an advertising model; it does not tell us where an ad appears or how often a Singapore user sees one. No in-app purchase prices appeared in the Singapore listing checked for this article.
BusSing has no ads. Bus arrivals, standard widgets, alight reminders and offline MRT planning are available without Express. Express adds unlimited Live Activities and location-aware widgets, while free Live Activities have a limit. Check the app for your allowance and local purchase terms.
Both apps publish information about data processing. BusSing processes information for features, analytics and operations without selling personal data or using third-party advertising. Read the written policies if location access or advertising is part of your decision.

What I would check before choosing
TransitNow has an Android version and requires iOS 15 on iPhone. BusSing has no Android version and needs iOS 18 on iPhone or watchOS 11 on Apple Watch. If your phone rules out BusSing, the rest of the comparison is secondary.
On a supported iPhone, try BusSing for a Singapore stop, widget or offline rail route. Look at TransitNow if multi-city bus coverage, its timetables or its reminder options are what you need. Check that the particular feature works in your region.
I cannot promise an accuracy winner. BusSing names LTA as its bus-arrival source; the TransitNow sources checked do not identify its Singapore live-data provider. Its release notes describe prediction improvements, but those are developer claims, not a controlled comparison. BusSing estimates can change too, and iOS controls widget refreshes.
